  • At Faymonville, a leading manufacturer of trailers and special vehicles, the aim was to improve internal communication and increase efficiency.

    • To further optimise Faymonville's production process, it was clear that internal communication needed to be worked on. When faults occurred in the production process of trailers, this information was often not passed on to the right departments in a well-structured way. As a result, insufficient data was available to draw lessons from recurring problems through proper analysis. For instance, no figures were available on which problems occurred most frequently or caused the most costs. As a result, the production process was not optimised in a targeted way, leading to loss of efficiency and higher costs. 

      Besides the need for faster and more targeted communication when problems arose, there was also a need for a structured way to share important information and objectives with team members on a daily basis. This allowed for increased engagement and accountability on the shop floor, which is essential for sustainable improvements in production. 

  • Squadron Communication
      • Solution 1: The Communication App

    • To address these challenges, Squadron introduced their Communication App. This app ensures that issues are registered and assigned instantly, allowing team leaders to immediately assign someone to resolve the issue. Employees can feedback in the app how much time they have spent resolving an issue, which helps prioritise and identify focus points for process improvement. This makes the app a powerful tool for the quality manager and helps the company better understand quality issues. 

    • Designed specifically for quality-related issues, the app is also used for communication between different plants, especially when one plant acts as a supplier to another. In addition, Squadron supported Faymonville in setting up Power BI dashboards to visualise and analyse the collected data. With this combination of tools, Faymonville can easily spot trends and act where necessary. 

      Implementation and training 

      Implementation of the Communication App went quickly and smoothly. Squadron provided a two-day on-the-job training, where employees were trained on how to use the app. Given that Squadron's apps are developed in the ‘low-code’ Microsoft Power Platform, Faymonville can manage the app largely independently and make adjustments without external help. Of course, Squadron is always ready to support structural changes or deeper optimisations.

      • Solution 2: Team Boards for structure and engagement

    • During a visit to STAS to see the Communication App operational in action, Faymonville's people also discovered the Team Boards. These boards act as a visual and structured communication tool in the workplace, increasing team member engagement and encouraging both top-down and bottom-up communication. Thanks to the Team Boards, team leaders and operators now have daily visibility of key issues such as KPIs and safety, contributing to a culture of open communication and shared responsibility. 

    • Squadron supported Faymonville step by step in implementing the team boards. They started with an introductory session for the team leaders, followed by joint sessions to determine key discussion points and visualisations. After implementation, two more return sessions followed, during which Squadron evaluated the boards' operation and made optimisation suggestions. 

      Results and evaluation 

      The collaboration between Faymonville and Squadron has already produced tangible results. The improved communication and streamlined processes have increased efficiency and engagement on the shop floor. The structural approach and visual support provided by the team boards have made it possible to maintain discipline and achieve better cooperation, even in a multilingual environment.
